First 128Gb NAND Unveiled by Micron and Intel
A new 128Gb NAND has been unveiled by Micron and Intel. A 128Gb NAND is the first of its kind in the world and when in production it will be used on devices such as smartphones, tablets and other similar devices.
The new NAND was created using 20nm process which is the same as a 64Gb version that is now entering production. We also hear that the larger version will be made available through samples this coming January ready for a mid year 2012 launch. With the 64Gb version already in production it will allow a quick transition to the larger version.
Note that the 128Gb NAND is small and when combined with eight die it will allow for a device that reaches 1Tb in capacity.
